Alberta Advantage Immigration Program
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is Alberta's provincial nomination stream. A nomination adds 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile, effectively guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.
What's included
- Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS)
- Alberta Express Entry Stream
- Rural Renewal Stream
- Tourism & Hospitality Stream and Accelerated Tech Pathway

Overview
What this means for you.
AAIP is the most powerful tool we have as Edmonton-based consultants. A provincial nomination from Alberta adds 600 CRS points to your Express Entry score — essentially guaranteeing an ITA in the next federal draw.
The most common streams are the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) for workers already employed in Alberta, the Alberta Express Entry Stream for high-scoring profiles working in priority sectors, and the Rural Renewal Stream for smaller communities.
We monitor AAIP draws weekly, advise on which stream fits your file, and prepare nomination applications that hold up under Alberta's documentation standards.
Eligibility
Who can apply?
A quick checklist to see if this is the right pathway for you.
- You meet the specific stream requirements (job offer, NOC, wage, work history)
- You intend to live and work in Alberta permanently
- You meet language thresholds (CLB 5 to 7 depending on stream)
- Your job offer matches the prevailing Alberta wage
- You meet the education and experience minimums for your stream

FAQ
Questions we hear every week.
Still wondering about your specific case? A 30-minute consultation is the fastest way to get a real answer.
Book a consultationMost streams require a genuine, full-time Alberta job offer. The Alberta Express Entry Stream can invite candidates without a job offer if they have a strong CRS and work in a priority sector.
AOS files are usually decided in about 6 months. Alberta Express Entry invitations are issued in regular draws — the e-APR after nomination takes another 6 months at the federal level.
Alberta has invited candidates with CRS scores as low as 300 in some draws and as high as 500 in others. The province targets specific sectors, so the cut-off changes.
It lets designated rural Alberta communities endorse newcomers who have a job offer there. The community endorsement plus AAIP nomination is the path to PR. Settlement in the community is expected.
Legally, you have mobility rights as a permanent resident. But AAIP expects you to settle in Alberta, and misrepresenting your intent can lead to problems. We always advise clients to land and settle in Alberta first.
